Thursday, January 6, 2022. Heavy Rainfall Led to Sanitary Sewer Overflow into the Willamette River

(January 6, 2022) – Heavy rainfall overwhelmed a pump station (1706 SE Oak Shore Ln.) on Thursday, January 6 at 8:30 am. This resulted in an ongoing intermittent release of an estimated 200,000 gallons of sewage into the Willamette River. Staff are currently working to resolve the issue.

Staff placed signs to inform area residents about the spill in the vicinity of the incident. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has been notified.

As a precaution, the public is advised to avoid contact with the water due to the possibility of bacterial contamination.
