Starting April 2025: Boardman Creek Sewer Line Project

Map showing Trolley Trail, Boardman Creek, Boardman Ave, Arista Dr; marked project area along the trail.

In late April, we’ll start construction on a sewer improvement project near the intersection of Boardman Ave. & Arista Dr.

Project purpose

We’re re-routing a sewer pipe currently running beneath Boardman Creek. The existing pipe is prone to “bellies” — low spots where wastewater collects due to corrosion over time.

Replacing and re-routing the pipe will reduce costly maintenance and future issues. It also allows us to protect the natural area by avoiding work directly under the creek.

Construction timeline

Construction is expected to begin in late April and finish in early June.

Week of 4/21 Update:  As of April 23, crews have successfully installed erosion control measures and excavated bore pits in preparation for horizontal boring. The upcoming boring work, scheduled over the next few business days, will span approximately 120 feet—from the rear of the Public Storage Facility property, beneath the Trolley Trail, and concluding at an existing manhole.

This phase is a significant step forward in enhancing the area's sewer infrastructure while minimizing surface disruptions. We appreciate the community's patience and will continue to provide updates as the project progresses.

Anticipated impacts

The Trolley Trail will stay open, but please watch for equipment and workers. There may also be some noise and dust during construction.

Use caution on the Trolley Trail

There will be heavy equipment and materials in the area during construction. We encourage bicyclists and pedestrians to use extra caution when approaching the Trolley Trail near Boardman Ave & Arista Drive. On-site contractors will direct you if there are temporary obstacles.
