(Update: August 31, 2023) — OLWS is replacing approximately 800 feet of wastewater main (pipe), and two manholes buried beneath the banks of the Willamette River. The section of pipeline being replaced had deformed since it was initially constructed in the 1960’s. It now has a low-lying belly where wastewater collects and decays. Construction started on July 17, 2023 and is expected to end in October 2023. This project is a $1,044,287.61 investment in the wastewater system serving our community, paid using funds saved from your rate dollars. The typical life span of this investment is 75 years.

Construction is taking place west of SE Hillside Dr, just south of SE Roethe Rd and along the riverbank in the easement to replace the aging pipes. During construction, heavy equipment and materials will be located in the work area. These areas will be clearly marked with cones and/or caution tape. When construction is occurring noise and dust may be present.

The road is intermittently closed at the access road while work is taking place on SE Hillside Dr. A detour route is set up and OLWS will maintain local access for residents impacted by the project. Emergency vehicles will continue to have road access at all times.

Staff and the construction contractor have planned this work to minimize the impact on the neighborhood.
