Power Outage Leads to Wastewater Overflow on November 1
(November 3, 2025) – On Saturday, November 1, at approximately 1:11 a.m., OLWS staff responded to a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) at Lift Station #2 (1706 SE Oak Shore Ln). A power outage in the area disrupted operations at the lift station, leading to the overflow. Staff were on site working on a solution when power was restored.
The outage resulted in the release of an estimated 98,400 gallons of untreated wastewater into the Willamette River through a bypass outfall pipe.
A caution sign has been placed near the outfall to inform residents of the spill. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and other partner agencies connected with the Willamette River have been notified.
